On Friday 8th March residents at Care UK’s Whitebourne care home will be inviting members of the public into their home for tea and cake as part of a national campaign to raise awareness of dementia.
The event, at the home in Burleigh Road, Frimley, runs from 2pm - 4pm and everyone in the community is welcome to join in the free afternoon of fun.
Manager Ros Stevenson said: “We are holding the event as part of the national Time for a Cuppa campaign to raise money for the charity Dementia UK and to help raise awareness of dementia and its effects on a person and their family.
“Dementia has touched the lives of many people and our team and residents’ friends and families have pledged to bake for our cake stall, give raffle prizes and work on the ‘name the bear stall’ to ensure we can raise money for this wonderful charity.
As well as having fun there will be information on hand about the dementia and Ros and her team will be available for a chat.
She said: “There are so many carers doing a wonderful job looking after loved ones. “We are a specialist dementia home and if we can help by giving any advice, information or just being a sympathetic ear then we are happy to.”
