Enfield lady celebrates 108th birthday at Elizabeth Lodge

Cake and karaoke were just part of the day as Ada Gould celebrated her 108th birthday with her fellow residents at Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge.

Mrs Gould, who was born on February 14th 1905 in Islington, worked at Boots in Enfield Town for 34 years when the chemist’s shop was located in Church Street. She will be joined for her party by her niece, her only granddaughter, Sally Ricketts, and her 96-year-old younger sister who lives in Essex.

Mrs Ricketts said: “To reach 108 is such an achievement, added to the fact that Nan looks nowhere near her age. We are very proud of her; she is a very special person and means the world to us, her family.”

Ada moved to Elizabeth Lodge care home in Enfield two weeks ago and Manager Esther Owuborkiri says that she has settled in well to the home in Winchmore Hill.

She said: “Ada and her family are looking forward to the party. There will be flowers, presents and we have ordered a special birthday cake. We will also have a karaoke machine at the event so that everyone can join in the fun and celebrations.

“We think that Ada is the oldest person in the borough and we hope to make the day as special as possible for her and her family.”
