A Care UK service in Derbyshire, which provides care at home to 220 local residents, is using national Dignity Action Day to launch a survey to ask the people it supports what they think of the service.
Cheshire and Peak District service Manager Dawn Goodwin said: “Having a genuine input into your care is key to real dignity. We regularly have surveys to gauge what people think of the service we provide, but we wanted to tie this survey in with Dignity Awareness Day as a reminder for everyone that choice is a fundamental part of dignity.
“When we get the surveys back, we will be able to get a clearer view of what people think, how we can improve and what we are doing right. We will then have information that we can share across Care UK, as well as with the Care Quality Commission and local council.”
As well as the survey, the Cheshire and Peak District service will be celebrating with an awareness day for service users and carers in the Cheshire and Peak District office, which will include a raffle and cake sale to raise funds for a local charity providing support to vulnerable adults.
Dawn said “As well as providing domiciliary care, we also provide help with social inclusion events for vulnerable young people in the community and for people with learning disabilities.
“By talking to people and taking time to get to know them, you can find out what you can do to help them fulfil their dreams and ambitions. At the moment, we have service users who we take swimming, horse riding or just into the community to visit friends.”
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
