'A first class service!'

Company news

Reverend Francis Pole had been experiencing considerable discomfort, and after visiting Mr Stephen Barker, a Consultant and Medical Director from the North East London NHS Treatment Centre, he was informed he would definitely need treatment for an inguinal hernia.

Francis, a retired clergyman, and now  Senior Chaplain for the SE Coast Ambulance Service, had been experiencing increasing pain and had been referred to the North East London NHS Treatment Centre for his care. Francis had been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia by his GP, and now confirmed by Mr. Barker, would need an operation to repair it.

For his initial consultation, Francis was given all the information he needed, ‘My first appointment was superb, I hardly had to wait any time at all and everyone including the receptionists were very pleasant. I was then given a choice as to when I could have my treatment and I was scheduled in at a time that was convenient for me  - which I was exceptionally grateful for.’

‘On the day of my operation, I didn’t feel too nervous as everyone had explained my procedure to me very clearly. The anaesthetist was excellent and took me through every step, even when I woke up from the operation I didn’t experience any unpleasantness which was a huge relief.’

Due to the nature of his operation, Francis had to stay in overnight on the inpatient ward to be monitored. ‘Fortunately, all the people on the ward, including the patients were really friendly! I felt as if I were being treated in a private hospital.’

The next day, Francis was given some pain relief medication and was discharged. ‘I followed all the instructions I was given to enhance my recovery. I am now feeling so much better and I am so pleased I can begin to get back to normal. Even though the treatment centre is some distance from where I live, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to my family and friends - a first class service!’
