102-year old Farm Lane resident Lilian Davis joined the hundreds of shoppers and some of Chelsea Football Club’s greatest stars to officially launch the festive season in Fulham.
Lilian, who has lived in Fulham all her life, was invited to switch on the lights after the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, Councillor Frances Stainton, recently joined in Lilian’s birthday celebration at Farm Lane.
Heather Said, unit manager, commented: “Lilian is a lovely, charming and very spritely 102-year old and she knows a great deal about the local area and its history. She also has many friends in the community and a caring family who often visit.
“She has been visited by the borough’s mayors on her birthday since she turned 99 and she had a lovely time chatting to the current mayor during her recent birthday party. She was delighted and very excited when the mayor invited her to turn on the Christmas lights.”
Lilian, was accompanied by the home’s deputy manager Madu Dhorajiwala and arrived in style at the Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre in the mayor’s car. She was joined by Chelsea stars Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Cesar Aspilicueta for the event as well as tribute acts to the Bee Gees and Take That.
Lilian was also joined by one of her regular visitors from the Brompton Oratory School. Madu said: “The children visit us once a week and are very popular with the residents. When Lilian was asked to choose two guests to bring along she chose one of the children and I, which was very kind.”
