Get your motor running

At Maplestead Day Club we like to have a go at making dreams come true, so when guest Dennis Yaxley told the team he would love to ride in a classic car they set to work finding a way to make it happen.

Manager Catherine Anderson-Mills was visiting the Four Colne Show when she spotted Michael Rayner with his beautiful 1950s Ford Zephyr. She told him all about Dennis and he kindly agreed to come to Halstead and give Dennis a ride.

Catherine said: “The look on Dennis’ face was a picture, a real combination of surprise and delight.” And he was even more delighted when Mick took him for a ride around Hedingham and Gosfield, then on to Braintree and back via Earls Colne before opening the bonnet so he could get a look inside.

Catherine said: “Dennis was so happy and I know he, his family and all the team at Maplestead want to say a very big thank you to Mick for making Dennis’ day.”

Dennis said he had had a great afternoon and felt really happy.
