Age is no bar to the Olympic spirit

Olympic spirit took over Forrester Court care home in Paddington when the residents proved age is no bar to sporting competition.

Residents at the Care UK home were joined by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Angela Harvey, who presided over a series of sporting tournaments, before presenting medals to the winners.

Residents took part in a warm-up session before the arrival of Cllr Harvey who also gave an opening speech and welcomed a procession of residents, who each represented a different country.

Competitions included the egg and spoon race, basketball, bowling and table tennis and after a celebratory tea, Cllr Harvey presented the medals.

Manager Sue Ann Jones said: “It was a wonderful day, proving that, whatever your age, there is a great deal of fun and camaraderie in sport.

“We may not all be as fast as Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps, but our smiles are every bit as wide.”
