The build up to our Jubilee began back in February when residents and staff began to create the scenery and props for a mad hatter’s tea party.
Residents watched the Disney’s version of Alice in Wonderland and picked which characters they wanted at the party and what props to make.
They created giant mushrooms, giant playing cards, flowers, tea pots, cups and saucers and all the characters. As well as making props residents were taken down to the local charity shops to purchase tea pots, cups and saucers and anything mad.
From the 2nd to the 4th of June all residents watched the queen’s celebrations, and enjoyed a selection of drinks and nibbles while waving the British flags.
The big day finally arrived on the 5th of June. The wet weather didn’t dampen our spirits, with residents helping staff decorate the garden, placing all the props and flags out ready for the party.
Family members had to follow the white rabbit who led them down to the celebration where staff was all dressed in things white, red and blue - some were in fancy dress. There was a buffet and plenty of drink and even a sweet trolley with eat me and drink me tags on. Music was playing which got everyone jiving, tombola was rolling, and much fun was had by all.
