Hollins Park marked the Queen’s diamond jubilee with a weekend of special royal themed events.
On Thursday we began by decorating the home with, bunting, balloons and flags.
We also continued our new, Ancestry Research Club which reminds us of the Royal Family’s own history. We have enjoyed investigating our family trees going back four generations and beyond.
On Friday we used our artistic talents as we arranged and dyed flowers, red white and blue to keep up our jubilee theme.
On Saturday after testing our knowledge with the Diamond Jubilee quiz, everyone celebrated the Diamond Jubilee with special cup cakes and bucks fizz.
On Sunday we reminisced with video footage of past Jubilee celebrations and Royal events. Then bringing things up to date we watched and followed the Thames diamond jubilee pageant.
Monday was fun day as we sang along, waved flags, cheered, and soaked up the nostalgia of the past 60 years of our Queen’s reign. We were entertained and led in our celebrations by musician Beckie who performs with a performance especially themed for the occasion. This was followed by our special Royal Tea Party.
A celebratory Royal Jubilee “Full breakfast “was enjoyed by our residents on Tuesday. We also had our own thanksgiving service which mirrored our Queen’s attendance at St Paul’s Cathedral.
As a lasting reminder of the Diamond Jubilee weekend celebrations we have erected a new statue in our recently planted orchard.
