The sound of clanging bells and party poppers will herald the start of Jubilee celebrations at Mitchell House on Tuesday 5th June.
Residents and the team from the home in Mitchell Road, Canford Heath, will be joining in a special garden party, which will take place in the home’s new gazebos, while town crier David Squire announces the festivities and makes a toast or two to the Queen, Prince Philip and other members of the Royal Family.
As well as the traditionally-costumed town crier, there will be entertainment from Vicky Perry and the residents and their families are looking forward to a sing-along of traditional, patriotic and much-loved songs. There will also be a tree planting ceremony in the activities garden in a spot chosen by two residents, Win Beyer and Betty Falmer, as a celebration for the Jubilee.
The team and residents have been collecting colourful bunting, special plates, cups and serviettes and people are planning to wear red, white and blue for the day. Everyone is looking forward to the large celebration cake that will be cooked by three chefs from the home’s kitchen team, designed in collaboration with residents.
Home Manager Diana Wiltshire said: “Everyone is very excited. The residents have been talking about past royal events, jubilees and the coronation. Many of them have grown up with the Queen and she holds a very special place in their affections.
“Chatting about the past also gives my team and I the chance to share our residents’ life experiences, which is important as the more we understand a person’s past the more we can help tailor a genuinely person-centred care plan that reflects their personalities and interests.”
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
