Chef Emma Garside got the Jubilee celebrations underway by constructing a superb four tier cake, which we have displayed in our foyer in the run up to our party.
Emma said: “It is a display cake but I will be creating a single tier edible version for the day, along with a series of miniature croques-en-bouche that will run down the length of the table.”
In preparation for the weekend of celebrations the residents and staff have also been busy making decorations. Some residents have created a collage of photos from the Queen’s reign to display. Other residents have been busy knitting colourful bunting in patriotic red, white and blue. Many residents have been working with a local arts and crafts lady to create paper carnations so that everyone can wear a buttonhole at the party.
Residents, their families and team members will get together on Sunday 3rd June to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with live entertainment from local music students and they will be treated to a selection of the work of Emma and her team.
She said: “We are making battenbergs, scones, cream fancies and moulded jellies. I love all aspects of cooking but baking has always held a special place for me.”
