Around 40 residents, staff and volunteers from Care UK’s Hinton Grange nursing home will be staging their own special version of the “Sport Relief Mile” on March 25th to raise money for the charity.
The walkers will be in fancy dress and will be singing along the route from the home in Bullen Close Cambridge to the Robin Hood pub almost a mile away, where they will stop for refreshments before heading back.
Staff and relatives who will be accompanying the residents taking part will be supported by volunteers from the City of David Fellowship Church who will help with pushing wheelchairs and collecting.
Care Home Manager, Sam Lambourne said: “It should be huge fun. Our residents have been helping to plan the event and they will be designing their own T shirts and outfits for the day.
“Many of us will be in fancy dress and we will be collecting along the route but we are also looking for sponsors so if anyone wants to sponsor us we would be delighted. We are hoping to raise at least £100.
“It is the first time our home has done anything for Sport Relief but hopefully we can make it an annual event.”
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
