St Luke's Health Centre launches Christmas care checklist

The practice is helping residents get prepared for any health concerns over the Christmas period, whether they are staying at home or visiting relatives across the country.

St Luke’s Health Centre and South East Essex Out of Hours service, which are run by Care UK on behalf of the NHS, have launched a Christmas Care Checklist which provides advice on preparing for the season, such as putting together a winter first aid kit, checking repeat prescriptions are up to date, and where to go if a health care issue arises over the festive period.

Millions of families across the UK will not be at home this Christmas, either visiting relatives and friends, or taking a festive holiday, which may mean they need to be aware of health care services such as walk-in centres or urgent care clinics, to receive medical assistance.

The checklist can be downloaded from thewebsite http://www.stlukeshealthcentre.co.uk/ and printed versions are available at the practice. St Luke’s Health Centre and South East Essex Out of Hours service will be open as usual, from 8am to 8pm every day over the Christmas period.

“Many people are not in their own homes for the Christmas holidays – you may be visiting family, taking a festive break, or you may have relatives staying with you from other parts of the country, so it’s important to make sure you’ve thought about how to deal with any health care issues,” said Heidi Smith, centre manager, St Luke’s Health Centre. “Our checklist is designed to give our patients all the information they need, so they can get on with enjoying the festive period, knowing that they’re fully prepared and know where to turn for health advice.”
