Residents and staff at Care UK’s Elwick Grange care home are getting ready to welcome members of the public into their home as they celebrate the season with a Christmas fete between 2-4pm on Thursday 22nd December.
Residents have been making Christmas cards for sale and they have made decorations and decked the halls to welcome visitors to Elwick Grange.
Deputy Manager Nicola Morgan said: “Our annual Christmas fete is always fun; there will be a chance to take home a delicious Christmas cake made by our chef in the ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition.
“We also have a large and beautiful hamper to be raffled, we have mulled wine and mince pies and there will be entertainment throughout the afternoon.”
In the run-up to Christmas, residents will also be entertained by carol singers from the Eldon Grove School. Nicola said: “The residents love joining in with the carols and they really love talking to the children and hearing about what they have planned for Christmas. Many of our residents have lived in Hartlepool all their lives and they have stories to tell of how Christmas used to be here.”
On Christmas Day the chef will be busy again as she prepares dinner for the residents and their families. Nicola said: “It is a wonderful family event. Every one of the team try their best to make it as special a day as possible and everyone has a great time.”
Residents will finish off the celebration on New Year’s Eve with a party and entertainment.
