Treatment Centre goes on Air!

Southampton NHS Treatment centre is teaming up with a local radio station to raise awareness of important health services within the local community.

They have joined forces with Unity 101, the South’s only Asian and Ethnic radio station, to hold a series of health information shows.

Experts from the treatment centre will hold discussions and interviews, live on air, during a monthly ‘Community Hour’ slot. This will cover important health information such as how to access the services at the NHS Treatment Centre, what choices are available to patients seeking treatment and what they should expect from their health provider.

Paula Friend, general manager, Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, said: “We work hard to get our important health messages into the local communities through leaflet distribution, the local press and events. This is the first time we have had members of our team on the radio and we hope it will help us to reach even more members of our local community.

“The live radio discussions will give people an opportunity to find out more about the health services available to them and allow them to make an informed choice about where they would like to receive treatment.”

Ram Kalyan “Kelly”, Project & Station Manager at Unity 101 said: “As a community radio station we are dedicated to providing useful advice for our listeners and raising awareness of important issues.

“We are looking forward to working with health professionals at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre and hope our community hour sessions will raise awareness with local people about the health care facilities available within their community.”

The first session was held on Monday 18 July.  To listen to the show click here
