Treatment Centre celebrates Hand Hygiene Day

For the second year in succession, Southampton Treatment Centre held an event to mark the World Health Organization’s ‘5 moments for Hand Hygiene Day’ on Thursday 5th May.

The centre’s Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, Claire Evennett, set up a display in the centre’s main reception to raise awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and ran a ‘5 questions for 5 moments’ quiz for staff.  78 staff at the centre took part in the quiz and Claire received lots of questions and queries from staff and patients alike throughout the day.  Claire said:  “The importance of hand hygiene cannot be underestimated – it really is vital in ensuring the Treatment Centre is the cleanest and safest place possible for patients and staff.  The quiz was a good way of testing what people know in this area, so it was great to see the numbers that took part and how well they all did.  We’ll continue to ensure we promote hand hygiene at every opportunity.”
