Happy reunion for mother and son

Muriel frequently did the 20-mile round trip from her home in Hove to Beech Hurst to visit her son Emil, aged 50, who has been resident in the home since 2004. That was until her own health began to deteriorate and her visits became less and less frequent.

It was a situation that caused both mother and son a lot of sadness. Then Heather stepped in. Knowing that Muriel was in need of nursing care, Heather negotiated a place for her at the same home and now mother and son can see each other every day and regularly enjoy their time together.

These days it is Emil who does the visiting. His mum’s health prevents her from leaving her room so he takes the short walk to her room to see her every day. It would have been very difficult to have maintained such regular contact had Muriel not moved to Beech Hurst.

“I am just very, very happy she is here. I love being able to see her when I want to.” Emil said.

Home manager Heather from Care UK said: “It is wonderful to watch their spirits rise as they spend time together and we are delighted that Beech Hurst has made their dreams come true.”
