A group of students from a Bradford school have gained first-hand healthcare experience at Eccleshill Treatment Centre to help them with their A Level studies.
The nine teenagers from Airevalley School visited the diagnostic and treatment centre to develop their understanding of care and treatment for some elements of their health and social care course.
Staff who operate the MRI scanner and other diagnostic equipment at the centre were on hand during the Year 13 students’ visit to give their take of what it is like to work in a busy treatment centre.
Heather Roberts, Head of Vocational Faculty and Health & Social Care at Airevalley School, said: “We chose Eccleshill Treatment Centre because it has an excellent reputation for providing high quality care in the area.
“The pupils have taken a lot from this visit. Being able to see the range of healthcare services offered at an NHS Treatment Centre and talking to staff first-hand gives them vital insight to help with their A Level studies.”
The Care UK-run treatment centre on Harrogate Road provides a range of NHS services, varying from x-rays, CT, MRI and ultrasound scans to day-case surgeries and procedures, for patients across Bradford, Airedale and Leeds.
Anne Stewart, general manager at Eccleshill Treatment Centre, said: “We were really impressed with the students’ health and social care knowledge and hope to see some of them back here one day working for us.”
Eccleshill NHS Treatment Centre opened in July 2005 with Care UK taking over the running of the centre in July 2010.
