The month-long programme of events includes residents designing a plate for use by them and their guests at Station House’s street party on the day of the wedding, a display of wedding dresses throughout history, a reminiscence afternoon and a guess-the-wedding photo competition. The 69 residents have also been writing congratulations cards and letters to send to the happy couple.
Manager Carole Wardle said: “Everyone is joining in events. Staff are bringing in their wedding photos and they have volunteered to make all the bunting that will cover the home throughout the festivities.”
Residents are busy making things too. Carole said: “Our residents love crafts and they are busy making tiaras, cravats, buttonholes and corsages to wear on the big day. We will decorate the home with flowers, ribbons and candles, organise the chairs in all of our lounges to look like pews facing the large flat screen TVs and our residents will get dressed up in their best clothes with their cravats and tiaras and join in the service.”
After the wedding the residents, guests and staff will have a street party, including entertainment provided by students from South Cheshire College.
Carole said: “There will be lots of wonderful party food prepared by our chefs. Those taking part will be using server plates featuring the winning design from our plate decorating competition. There will also be a raffle. The top prize is a special wedding dinner for two which the winners will receive at the home on the Sunday, bringing an end to a month of royal wedding fun.”
Station House has been judged as excellent by an independent inspector. The home provides expert care for elderly people who are physically frail and people with dementia. The team also delivers complex tracheotomy care and palliative care as well as nursing residents who have had strokes or who have long term conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
