Forward thinking activities staff at Care UK's Forrester Court care home in London have introduced YouTube and Google as tools for reminiscing with their residents.
The team set up a projector and screen in the home for residents to see the internet in action. The residents were able to look at Google Maps showing where they used to live and searched for images of special places such as their school.
By far the most popular part of the session was watching the YouTube videos.
Activities Coordinator Abi explained: "Residents were asked to pick their favourite songs, we found the original version on YouTube and played it on the big screen. It was a fun sing along session for all. 'Que sera, sera' and 'A white sport coat and a pink carnation' were some of the favourites. Our residents were left amazed at how much information can be obtained from YouTube and Google. They were able to relate to so many events which took place during the last century."
