First class service........from referral to home

The Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre now has three new team members who each provide a vital service for patients who have undergone operations to replace hip or knees.

The ‘Home Service Nurses’ visit patients in their home to carry out  post-operative duties which include changing  dressings and carrying out clip removal for hip and knee replacements. The service was previously run as a separate part of the business from premises in Lincolnshire but the decision has been made to make it part of the Barlborough team.

The nurses cover a huge area, including places such as Loughborough, Doncaster, Lincoln and the East coast.  Karin Enright, 39 of Navenby, Lincolnshire, one of the Home Care Service Nurses based at the Centre comments: “All three of us all love the job, we plan our work at home as we cover such a large area.  I get a lot of job satisfaction as all of the patients I visit are so very happy with the treatment that they receive at Barlborough and they say that the after care is second to none.  Having treatment can be a major upheaval in people lives and a big part of our role is to provide support and reassurance along with the excellent clinical services.”

Former patient Mrs Lofts of Boston, Lincolnshire, comments: “I cannot fault the treatment I received from Barlborough Treatment Centre.  It has fantastic staff and superb aftercare.”

Graeme Kendall, Manager at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “It’s very reassuring for our hip and knee patients to have home visits. Our goal is to have our patients back on their feet as soon as possible so we make sure that they go home with all the necessary support  This service makes it easier and more convenient for our patients as they don’t have to travel back to the hospital. ”

Run by an independent company with an impressive track record in patient care and clinical success, on behalf of the NHS for NHS patients only, the Centre provides day care and inpatient orthopaedic surgery for patients from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It prides itself on providing the best patient care at its unique facility in friendly and comfortable surroundings. The Centre prides itself on its extremely low infection rates and has never had a case of hospital acquired MRSA or C.difficile.

The Centre, is situated less than one mile from Junction 30 of the M1 which makes it very accessible and the parking is free.
