Staff across the country took part in different activities ranging from cake sales in the office, sponsored swims and travelling Pudsey bears to raise £6,380.77. Care UK’s ‘Working in the Community Committee’ donated a further £4,000 to the appeal bringing the total to £10,380.77.
Care UK sent five travelling Pudseys alongside staff ranging from carers to doctors to see how far their Pudsey bear could get by travelling to different Care UK facilities with colleagues. Locations were noted down in a mini passport to see which bear went the furthest and photos published on the company’s intranet show Pudsey in a huge range of locations varying from Brighton to the Scottish lochs.
All of the team at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre near Chesterfield, ranging from support staff right through to the surgeons took part in a wide range of fundraising activities from ‘spot the spot on Pudsey’ to fancy dress and raised an impressive £900.
Meanwhile the schools within Care UK decided to adopt a ‘children giving to Children In Need’ approach, with one school in the South West organising a one mile sponsored swim, and a six mile run was completed by all staff and six students. Whilst in Shropshire, six staff, the head teacher and eight students climbed to the top of Brown Clee Hill, the highest point in Shropshire.
All of the fundraising was co-ordinated in her spare time, by Sue Fairs who works as a PA for Care UK in Colchester. Sue said: “I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Care UK for their dedication and to the local businesses who donated auction prizes.” Sue also managed to get a ticket for the live Children in Need show and was interviewed live on air by Sir Terry Wogan.
Mike Parish, Chief Executive of Care UK said: “I want to congratulate everyone that has taken part and showed their continued enthusiasm for raising money for such an important cause.”
Last year Care UK raised £7,516.46 for Children in Need.
