Roy first patient through HMR pilot scheme

New pilot scheme gets off the ground in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale with the first patients arriving on our unit.

Rochdale resident Roy Mosoph is the first patient to be seen as part of a new pilot scheme by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust (PCT), in partnership with Greater Manchester NHS Clinical Assessment & Treatment Service (CATS).

Roy, who visited the Greater Manchester NHS CATS mobile clinical unit on Union Street in Rochdale for an Ear, Nose and Throat consultation, was impressed with the efficiency of the service, which meant he was seen quickly and had his assessment, diagnosis and treatment all on the same day!

Heywood Middleton and Rochdale PCT requested that Greater Manchester NHS CATS take over the process of managing patients who are referred by their GP into the CATS service.  The benefits are that patients speak directly to the patient management centre at CATS when booking their appointment to ensure they are being referred to the most appropriate place for treatment.  This increases the chance of them receiving a diagnosis and treatment, plus any x-rays or scans, all on the same visit.
