Care UK Care Homes in Islington Given Glowing Report by Regulator

The ratings are awarded by the CQC, which undertook unannounced visits to the homes to monitor standards of personal care, as well as social activities provided and the performance of staff and management.  Highbury New Park was described by the CQC as having “maintained excellent outcomes for people who use the service”. The inspectors spoke to residents and their families and friends and the report quotes the words of one family member who said “my family and my mother have nothing but praise for the way the home is running.”

Siew Batten, Highbury New Park Home Manager said: “I am so thrilled that we’ve been rated “excellent” – it is a real tribute to the staff who work here, who are so committed to caring for our residents and helping them to lead fulfilling lives.”

At Lennox House, the regulator found the care home to offer a “Good” level of care to its residents. This is the second highest rating available.

Naj Mudhoo, Lennox House Home Manager said: “The fact that the independent regulator CQC now recognises how good our home is has been a tremendous boost to our staff.  It also gives the relatives of our residents the peace of mind that Lennox House offers a caring and fulfilling place for them to live.”

Among the other Care UK homes in London to receive an “Excellent” rating this year are: Ellesmere House (Chelsea), Elmstead House (Hendon), Woodland Hall (Stanmore), Charlotte House (Isleworth), and Whitefarm Lodge (Twickenham).

Tony Weedon, Director of Operations of Care UK’s Residential Care Services said: “These results really demonstrate that the standard of care we provide across Islington is high, and improving. It’s fantastic news not only that the service we provide at Highbury New Park has achieved the top standard of “Excellent”, but that we also now have an objective endorsement of the “Good” quality of care provided at Lennox House. I am particularly proud of our record across London, where we have some really very high quality care homes. We aim to meet the individual needs of our residents in all our homes, and we are delighted that the dedication and hard work of our staff in Highbury and Islington has been recognised in this way.”

These local results in north London are consistent with the national trend that has seen Care UK achieve a total of 48 of its care homes rated “Good” or “Excellent”.
