Patients treated at the new Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, run by Care UK at the Royal South Hants Hospital, have praised their treatment there.

The latest patient survey results from an independent audit carried out for the Department of Health show that patients gave the service top marks on several criteria including: overall performance, how they are treated, cleanliness and the performance of staff.

Key findings of the patient survey results include:

94% of patients said they would probably or definitely recommend the hospital
90% of patients rated their overall care as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’
88% of patients said they were always treated with dignity and respect
92% of patients said their room or ward was very clean

Comments from patients included:

‘I was impressed by the care and treatment I received both at the pre-assessment and for the operation. I was allowed to feel I was an individual person not a number to be rushed past.’

‘Received excellent care from being admitted from everyone concerned. It was second to none and can recommend it to anyone.’

‘The dedication and care from the surgeon and nurse was exceptional, I could not fault it.’

‘Very clean hospital, dedicated staff who were excellent, as was the care. If all hospitals were run like this one, Britain would have the best health service in the world.’

Paula Friend, General Manager at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre said: ‘We are very pleased that patients rate the care they received so highly. Our staff here at Care UK are committed to caring for our patients and we will continue to make sure that treatment is of an excellent standard.’

Grant Rex, Managing Director of Care UK Secondary Care Services, said: ‘Like all NHS Treatment Centres run by Care UK, Southampton NHS Treatment Centre is safe, clean and delivers excellent care.  We have never had a single case of hospital acquired MRSA or C. difficile.  These Centres help improvements in NHS services and have become a vital part of the NHS family.’

Southampton NHS Treatment Centre has also won praise from the Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) which rates environment, food and privacy and dignity at every hospital. It achieved the highest possible score (grade 5, excellent) for privacy & dignity and food and notched up a grade 4 (good) for the hospital’s environment.
