The open day received enthusiastic support from the local community, with other VIPs present including the Mayor Cllr Tom Willis, the Mayoress Jane Willis, the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Right Reverend John Gladwin and his wife Lydia. Pupils from two local schools, Boswell School and Oaklands Primary School gave performances of singing and dancing.
Manor Lodge is a newly built, contemporary care home located in a quiet, residential area of Chelmsford, providing residential and nursing care. The light and airy en-suite rooms are arranged in small groups of 15 or 20 bedrooms, each suite with its own dining and relaxation areas, giving the accommodation a homely feel.
As Manor Lodge is at the heart of the community, local amenities are within easy reach, but Manor Lodge also offers a wide range of activities and facilities on site, with a cinema, café, hairdressing and therapy room.
During the open day, Charlie Dimmock viewed Manor Lodge’s landscaped gardens and raised flowerbeds which will allow keen gardeners to continue pursuing their hobby.
Care UK’s unique approach, Activity Based Care, is designed to ensure residents can stay as fulfilled and independent as possible after moving into a Care UK home. Each resident is supported to succeed with extra help during a huge range of daily tasks, often reflecting their own life history or work experiences, from maintaining a garden to helping with jobs they would normally do in their own home.
Charlie Dimmock said:
“I’m really pleased Care UK invited me to open this new care home, gardening can help keep you healthy and active so it’s great that residents at Manor Lodge will be able to stay green-fingered.”
