Farm Lane Care Home Shortlisted for Award

The award is for "Best new development for the elderly" and is based on how well the needs and desires of residents have been incorporated into the design, as well as the architectural standards of the building.

Staff and residents welcomed judges from the awards when they visited Farm Lane Care Home earlier this month. In recognition of being selected as a finalist, the awards team presented Sarjit Jagroop, Care Centre Manager with a certificate and a cheque for £500 for their nominated charity, The Alzheimer's Society.

The overall winner will be announced at a presentation at Lords on 6 April this year.

Farm Lane Care Home operated by Care UK was completed in August 2005. Architects DWA alongside Metnor Construction and interior designers Renray David Baker were employed to complete the project. Farm Lane accommodates 66 residents in state-of-the-art facilities which include a hydrotherapy pool, physiotherapy gym and a roof conservatory and garden with stunning views across the city.

Care UK's Development Director, Richard Pearman said: "This nomination demonstrates that Care UK is continuing to deliver higher standards of accommodation for older people which meet their expectations for care and support in the twenty first century."
