A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.
I qualified as a general nurse in 1982 and then worked in hospitals throughout the UK before moving into residential care. I became a care home manager in 2000 and worked at several homes in the Aberdeen area, before arriving at Tor-Na-Dee as a brand new home in 2008.
I'm a very positive, driven person and always aim to do the best I can for residents and the home. I love to see that residents are well looked after and that they feel happy and contented. And it's reassuring to know that residents' families are really pleased with the care that we provide.
It's also rewarding to watch team members develop and blossom. I'm proud of how Tor-Na-Dee has progressed since it opened and the high standard of care that our knowledgeable team provides every single day. We do lots of surveys among residents, families and the people that work here, to gather feedback and suggestions, and we have monthly meetings with residents and relatives. I also hold a monthly manager's surgery but my door is always open to anyone who'd like to talk.
In my own time, I squeeze in as much as I can – I enjoy going to the theatre and the cinema, as well as reading and doing crosswords. And I like to keep active too, with Zumba and tai chi classes.
