A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.
I joined Care UK in 2004: I started working here part-time as a domestic when I was doing my A levels. I then became a Carer before doing my nurse training. And here I am today as Home Manager.
I love walking through Hollins Park at the beginning of the day, seeing colleagues and having a chat, and getting the day off to a good start. I enjoy catching up with residents during the day, talking to them and finding out what they’ve been up to.
In 2017 I won Best Nurse Specialist/Dementia Lead at the National Dementia Care Awards. It was an honour to win, especially as I’d won the Good Nurse category at the North West finals of the Great British Care Awards a few weeks earlier!
I was so proud of the Hollins Park team when we won the Great Dementia Care award at Care UK’s own RCS Stars Awards in 2019. It capped off an amazing year for us: we’d gained an ‘outstanding’ overall rating from the Care Quality Commission (with ‘outstanding’ ratings in four out of five areas that the CQC inspects) and reached the finals in various national care awards.
At Hollins, we continue to strive to give our residents the best possible care, we continue to use every opportunity we can to keep residents engaged and lead a fulfilling life. In 2023 I was awarded a Queens Nurse title and the National dementia Nurse Manager award, I’m committed to going the extra mile and ensuring the best for our residents and will shortly be starting my post graduate studies in person centered dementia care which is an opportunity to use this knowledge at the home.
