Daniel Cole

Home Manager

Daniel Cole

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, beginning at the tender age of 15 when I did work experience in a residential home.

I then became a care assistant and worked my way up. The rest is history!

Commissioning a brand new care home is a dream for most Home Managers. You have the chance to shape everything from the team to the home’s values and standards of care. But no Home Manager can do it all by themselves. Success is all about teamwork. If colleagues are happy, then residents will be happy, so I’m looking forward to making Oakfield Croft a home where the team is positive, motivated and everyone loves what they do.

We’re focused on delivering the highest care standards in stunning surroundings at our care home in Sale. I look forward to seeing you at Oakfield Croft soon!

Deputy Manager

I have 30 years of experience working in care, mainly focusing on older people and those living with dementia and complex needs.

In my role, you need to be organised and be able to multitask. You need to like being around people too, as we have regular visitors, including relatives and other healthcare professionals.

It is also important to show empathy and compassion and really understand the care sector and what is available. Having a willingness to learn new ways of working is essential in most jobs but even more so in care. We need to focus on what a person can do, rather than what they can’t do, in order to support them.

I wanted to work at Care UK because I am passionate about the organisation’s values. Here, working as a team is valued and I enjoy being able to make a meaningful difference in peoples lives. Care UK is also forward thinking and has an outstanding reputation, delivering consistently high levels of care.

The best part of the day for me is the time I get to spend with residents and their families. I really love hearing about all their different lived experiences. I feel proud to work in a position where I am helping others live with purpose.

I really value the team we have here, and it is a privilege to support them develop new skills and new ways of working.

Previously, I worked in aviation, so I’ve been really lucky and had the opportunity to travel extensively. I also come from a farming family, so I love the outdoors and dogs too.

Customer Relations Manager

I joined Care UK because I wanted to make a difference and find a role with true satisfaction. Care UK has amazing reviews from team members, and I felt I would fit in well with what they stand for, fulfilling lives.

My role is to help families through a difficult time and offer lots of advice and support. It’s important to have empathy and understanding as a Customer Relations Manager, as well as being hardworking, adaptable and working well within a team.

I enjoy meeting new families, showing them how lovely Oakfield Croft is and helping them to see how fulfilling life for residents can be here.

I love spending time with residents too, chatting and getting to know them and their families to help make a difference to their lives. I feel proud when I can make residents happy, and I go the extra mile to arrange personal activities and events.

Family and friends are very important to me, so outside of work I spend a lot of time with them. I also like F1 and motorsports, as well as holidays and a nice pamper.

Customer Relations Manager

I have ten years’ experience working as a Client Relations Manager, both in the UK and in the US. I chose to join Care UK because of its reputation and commitment to putting residents at the heart of everything – a value that mirrors my own beliefs.

I feel passionate about delivering high quality care. I admire Care UK’s focus on continuous improvement and innovation in its provision. It is about making sure everyone receives tailored support. I also heard great things about the team culture at Care UK. I feel excited about contributing my skills and experience and being part of that.

I believe that to do this role well, you need to have compassion, empathy and genuinely want to make a positive difference to someone’s life. Providing care means truly understanding the needs and feelings of those we support.

Patience and strong communication skills are equally important too. People have different needs, so you need to listen and communicate effectively. You also have to be adaptable and resilient – unexpected challenges happen regularly in care.

I feel proud to be able to help others, knowing that whatever happens, we can help residents live fulfilling lives. In one example, I was able to help a family choose the right home and care for their father. They were completely overwhelmed and unsure about what to do.

I made sure to listen to their concerns and understand their father’s needs, which included medical care too. He thrived in our care and his family were so happy and relieved, knowing that he was able to live with dignity and independence. It is moments like this that you really appreciate and understand just how important what we do is.

Outside of work, I love music, singing and the theatre and I’m no stranger to grabbing the mic in a karaoke session. When I’m not belting out tunes, you’ll find me hiking or hanging out with my husband and friends.

Lifestyle Lead

I have worked in care since 2020 with a previous role as a dementia specialist. I believe to be successful in this role you have to be kind, caring, patient and understanding.

My favourite part of the day is putting smiles on residents faces and being creative. I love knowing that I work in a beautiful environment, making sure I host activities that residents at Oakfield Croft will love and enjoy and most important making them happy.

Outside of work, I like to spend time with my daughter and love a bit of shopping!

I can definitely say that joining Care UK has been a career highlight. I was encouraged to apply for the role by friends who saw I had the right skills and felt I could make a positive impact.

I’m incredibly grateful for the nudge because it is such a great opportunity to use my passion for food in a way that makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives. We make sure that residents receive meals that are both nourishing and tailored to their dietary needs. As a team we work really hard to make mealtimes enjoyable while supporting residents overall health and wellbeing.

We have a strong team here and it is so rewarding when we receive positive feedback from residents, it’s a great motivator for us to keep doing what we do.

I love baking and if I get the chance to, it’s my favourite part of the day. I find great joy in creating homemade treats, it brings that extra little bit of comfort and happiness to residents.

Outside of work, I appreciate quiet moments and enjoy simple pleasures. Being able to unwind and relax helps me recharge and feel prepared for the next day.

I joined Care UK because I wanted to start a new role. I love that every day in a care home is different.

In the lifestyle team, it’s important to be happy, fun loving, caring, friendly and passionate.

It’s my job to look after residents and interact with their families and friends, and it’s a career highlight that I get to make residents happy with different activities. I’m proud that I make a difference and residents’ and families’ lives.

Business Administrator

I have always been interested in the way businesses are run and, seeing how successful Care UK is, I decided to apply for the Receptionist/Administrator role when the home opened. After a year in that role, I moved into my current position as Business Administrator. When I was offered this role it showed me that a year of working hard and pushing myself to learn and develop had paid off.

My favourite part of my day is seeing the residents and making them smile. It’s very rewarding knowing that we are in this job for them. Seeing them happy makes everything worth it. Residents do become like family.

I think a good Business Administrator should be organised and empathetic, and good at multitasking. Focus, patience and a big smile help too! A lot of the role is task-oriented, but it’s also about building relationships with people. I enjoy getting to know new residents, relatives and colleagues, and I’m looking forward to helping to make Oakfield Croft as successful as it can be.

I joined Care UK for its fantastic reputation for care and quality – and its values were very close to my own. It also has a beautiful portfolio of new-build homes, including Oakfield Croft. These are beautiful places to live and work.

In this role you need to be a master of multi-tasking, so it’s important to be able to stay focused and calm. You need good problem-solving skills, a good understanding of fire safety and of electrical systems and construction.

I’m enjoying building robust and productive routines and procedures into maintenance at Oakfield Croft. As this is a new home we have a great blank canvas to work from. I get huge satisfaction from fixing any problems and making the home safe and comfortable for residents. I love spending time with residents, chatting to them and listening to their stories about work or how things used to be. I’ve learnt a lot from them.

In my spare time I like to unwind by watching films, enjoying long walks and spending time with my two daughters.
