Emma Tillyer

Home Manager

Emma Tillyer

Being able to assemble a strong team of carers, chefs and lifestyle coordinators from the ground-up, while overseeing the opening of a new care home, is an unbelievably exciting opportunity, and I’m keen to roll up my sleeves and support the new team as we get started.

The role of a Home Manager is a balancing act – you need to have a keen eye for the practical side of the job, while also being focused on creating a positive culture at the home and delivering outstanding care for each and every resident.

I joined Care UK in 2008 as a qualified registered nurse at Pinetum care home in Chester, and progressed to Clinical Lead, Night Nurse Manager, and in August 2019 to Home Manager. In 2023, I was fortunate to be able to step in as a Home Manager covering for maternity leave at Oxbow Manor.

Laura Foster
Laura Foster
Deputy Manager

My very first experience of Care UK was as a relative when my grandad lived in one of its homes. I loved seeing how he was made to feel part of a family and it made me want to be part of a team that made that possible.

I have now worked for Care UK for 14 years, starting as a carer and progressing to my current role as deputy manager. I have also undertaken level two and three NVQs and have a wealth of experience of dementia and end of life care.

In all caring roles you need to be compassionate and respectful. You also need to be trustworthy, and calm in stressful situations. Being a problem solver with good attention to detail helps a lot too. As we work as a team, it’s essential to work well with others.

I have a huge amount of pride in what I do. My work is meaningful, and everyone here provides a warm and caring environment that prioritises dignified living and tailored support.

My favourite part of the day is the early morning and saying hello to everyone. Being able to sit and talk with residents is rewarding and enjoyable too, especially finding out about their lives and what they’ve achieved.

Customer Relations Manager

My role is to help families through a difficult time and offer lots of support and advise. I am the initial contact here at Long Stone Manor and will help guide you through the Admissions process.

I enjoy meeting new families, showing them how amazing Long Stone Manor is, as well as being hardworking, adaptable and working well within a team I love to spend time with residents, chatting and getting to know them and their families to help make a difference to their lives. We are dedicated to finding out about the little details of people’s lives and their preferences so that we can include these in their daily routines.

I joined Care UK in 2022, working at Oakfield Croft because I wanted to make a difference and find a role with true satisfaction.

I feel proud when I can make residents happy, and I go the extra mile to arrange personal activities and events.

The team here at Long Stone Manor is focused on delivering outstanding care and we love to create a family feeling… we very much look forward to welcoming you!

Head Chef

I have over 15 years of experience working in gastro pubs and restaurants. One of the great aspects of my job here at Care UK, is the high-quality fresh ingredients we use. Creating well balanced and nutritious meals is a crucial part of what we do.

In this role, you need to be passionate, hard-working and determined. I’m really proud of the fact that we involve residents in menu planning, so with that in mind, you also need to be approachable and understanding.

I think my favourite part of the day is the morning. Just one small, positive thought first thing can change your whole day.

Outside of work, I love classic cars and Formula One.

Head Housekeeper

For me, the best part of the day is the morning. It is generally quiet, and you can spend time getting everything ready. Being able to leave at the end of a shift, knowing that everything is as it should be, is a wonderful feeling too.

In my role, you need to be organised and have excellent attention to detail, the little things really matter. Working in a care home means you also need to be a caring person.

I wanted to join Care UK because it goes above and beyond in the care and support it provides.

When I am not working, I enjoy socialising and gardening.

Maintenance

Before covering maintenance, I was a head housekeeper for another Care UK home. I have also been a carer, so I have lots of all-round understanding of how care homes are managed and what needs to be done.

In this role you need to have a can-do attitude and be helpful and positive. We are all here to make sure residents are comfortable and feel safe so it’s also important to work as a team.

I have enjoyed all my roles at Care UK, but being able to oversee maintenance at a new home has been a real highlight for me.

Outside of work, I like to spend time with friends and going out for lovely meals.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.
