Meet our friendly care team

Led by our home manager, every member of our team is willing to roll up their sleeves to help colleagues. Each of us loves what we do and we wouldn’t do it anywhere else. Residents enjoy continuity of care from people they know and trust. Find out more about us on these pages.

Gladys Chironga

Home Manager

Gladys Chironga

I’ve been at Clara Court since 2009, when I joined the team as a care assistant.

I joined because Care UK has a clear vision for older people’s care which I believe in. I’m also passionate about providing high quality care and I want to make a difference to the lives of the people we care for.

Another rewarding part of my role is empowering colleagues to ensure that residents live their lives in the way they want. I enjoy engaging and motivating colleagues and seeing them develop and succeed.

Each day is different in this role. I enjoy having the chance to continue learning and developing my skills, and I love spending time with residents, supporting them to continue to live happy and fulfilling lives.

Deputy Manager

I began working for Care UK in August 2006 as a cleaner, and I’ve worked my way up to Deputy Manager.

To be a great Deputy Manager, you need to have passion and willingness to improve and achieve the goals you set for yourself. Care UK gives good opportunities for growth. I’ve achieved my Level 2, 3 and 5 qualifications.

I enjoy working with the residents and colleagues at Clara Court. Working on the floor with others means I can help them achieve more and work to higher standards. I love to be challenged and learn new things that help me in my everyday duties.

With work, family and my home it can be hard to find the time to unwind, but when I have the opportunity, I like to visit the beautician to relax.

Head Chef

I started working for Care UK in 2006, and I’ve worked as a senior carer and team leader. I’ve always been passionate about food, and being creative with food, so I made the move to head chef. I love it!

I particularly enjoy going around the home and chatting to residents about what they’re enjoying on the menu, and what else they’d like to try. It’s the best feeling seeing them smiling and looking forward to meal times. I know we’re doing something right.

There’s such a great atmosphere at Clara Court, which is helped by the fact that everyone supports each other to do their best work. Colleagues are happy, residents are happy and relatives too.

Head Housekeeper

I joined the Clara Court team in 2020, working as a Catering Assistant and in the domestic department. I was promoted to Head Housekeeper in September 2020. Before that, I worked in hotel housekeeping.

Prior to coming to the UK, I studied at a Technical School of Catering and Hotel Management in Poland and then got a degree in financial management before working as Reception Manager at a hotel.

I like taking on challenges, gaining skills and working towards new goals. I welcomed the opportunity to learn from a dedicated and experienced team at Clara Court and contribute by further developing my own skills.

Being a Head Housekeeper, it’s the little things that matter. This role calls for a particular attention to detail: cleanliness, infection prevention and ensuring and maintaining comfort of living for residents.

What I love most each day is meeting the residents and ensuring they are well looked after by our housekeeping department. I cherish all my chats with residents and appreciate their comments and suggestions and the compliments they often pay our team. It’s incredibly satisfying to see the care home clean, fresh and consistently meeting the high standards set by Care UK.

Outside of work, I love literature, particularly poetry. In my spare time I read and write poetry, and I also love to look after my plants.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles
