Chloe Swarbrick

Home Manager

Chloe Swarbrick

I originally began working for Care UK when it took over the running of various homes operated by Suffolk County Council.

The organisation truly puts residents at the heart of everything, which I completely support. It’s also very supportive as an employer – as a manager I have a great support network to help me do my job to the highest standards.

I enjoy mornings the most at Britten Court: many residents are up and about and I can spend time with them, having a chat and finding out how they plan to spend their day. I’m privileged to work with some wonderful residents and families, including some people we’ve been supporting for a long time because they transferred from the old Council-run homes like I did!

Outside of work, I have a very busy home life. I’ve three children and eight grandchildren who I love spending time with.

Sade Green
Sade Green
Deputy Manager

I was keen to join Care UK because I like their values and their focus on residents above everything else. Before being promoted to Deputy Manager, I was Team Leader, and being nominated for Team Leader of the Year by my colleagues was a huge highlight in my career. I was so proud that they thought I was doing a good job.

As Deputy Manager, it’s important to be supportive, approachable and work well in a team. You also need to be a good role model and have leadership and communication skills. The most important part of my role is making sure the residents are safe, well cared for and smiling every day.

I love seeing the residents in the mornings having their breakfast together, chatting and smiling. It’s my favourite part of the day. Knowing that I’m making a difference in someone’s life makes me feel proud of what I do.

When I’m not at work, I love spending family time with my three boys, taking long walks with my dogs and learning new things.

Julie Robinson
Julie Robinson
Day Centre Manager

I used to be a kitchen assistant and then a carer here at Britten Court, but when this role became available I was keen to give it my all. I’ve not looked back! This role is so rewarding every day and gives you a chance to get to know the residents on a one-to-one basis. I love making a difference to residents and enhancing their lives through activities.

I believe it’s never too late to try new things, and I really enjoy supporting residents to try something new. The management team here have given me so many opportunities, enabling me to grow, learn new skills and do lots of different training. In 2017 I won a ‘lifestyle coordinator of the year’ award, and in 2018 I have won a Care Home Heroes award. Working at Britten Court and for Care UK has made a very positive impact on my life.

Avelana Barnham
Clinical Lead

I was attracted to work at Care UK and Britten Court by the Care UK values of Passionate, Teamwork and Caring. The team really does live these values, we are all like one big family.

I believe in my role it’s very important to have a willing to learn and listen. The favorite part of my day is my morning walk around, seeing the residents at the beginning of my day really puts a smile on my face and sets me up for a great day

Head Chef

I decided to join Care UK because I’d heard it’s a reputable organisation, and I’m now proud to work at Britten Court knowing my team and the residents who live here are happy.

As Head Chef, it’s important to be flexible, patient and creative, as well as having good people and time management skills. The most important parts of my role are managing the team, creating menus, organising the rota, delegating, and ordering stock to ensure we have everything we need in the kitchen.

When I know residents are happy with the service we provide, that’s my favourite part of my working day. I’m also proud to have achieved a five-start food hygiene rating for several years in a row now.

Lisa Parsons
Lisa Parsons
Business Administrator

I joined Care UK and Britten Court when it was still a very new home, in 2015. I’d heard good things about Care UK and the home was beautiful. It was exciting to be part of a brand new care home.

I’m an experienced business administrator; in this role you need to have a good understanding of finance, and it helps to be able to juggle lots of different tasks and be patient and good with people.

I enjoy spending time with our lovely residents – it’s definitely the highlight of my day. Seeing the smiles on the residents’ faces, and how happy their families are that they are safe, happy and cared for, makes everything we do worthwhile.

Michelle Norman

Head Housekeeper

I started working at Britten Court in 2014, prior to this I was a housekeeper at a holiday village in Lowestoft. Seeing the residents happy, smiling and enjoying themselves is very rewarding. I love talking to them about their past and their families, and it’s a pleasure to keep their home tidy for them.

I take a lot of pride in what I do and will always go the extra mile to support my team. At the end of my shift I always do a final walk round of the home, this is the highlight of my day as I love seeing everything clean and tidy for the residents.

Cassie
Cassie
Canine Relations Manager

I’ve been visiting Britten Court for about four years – my mum works at the home and I would pop in regularly to see all my friends here. I then decided to join the team full time to help with PR. It stands for pooch relations.

I used to be a street dog in Cyprus. I was abandoned and unloved. My family found me and rescued me and I haven’t looked back. I do still have a soft spot for beaches though. I like to have a good run around feeling the sand between my paws, and to enjoy a paddle with my family.

One of my talents is to bring joy to the residents of Britten Court. I listen to their stories about the dogs they’ve cared for while trying not to eat their biscuits. I do enjoy having a bit of fuss made of me, and I love making friends. Did I tell you that I won ‘best dog’ at the Britten Court dog show? Must dash – just spotted someone with a biscuit.
