Bromsgrove care home praised by inspectors

Home news

A national care watchdog has given a Bromsgrove care home its seal of approval, with relatives and residents commending the home’s supportive and approachable team.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) awarded Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, an overall ‘good’ rating following an unannounced inspection.

The report highlighted the positive sentiments expressed by residents, relatives, and visiting professionals toward the home and its team members with one resident informing the inspectors that they “couldn’t be in a better place.”

Inspectors praised the team at Chandler Court for their care, commenting that “the atmosphere within the service was welcoming and relaxed. Staff had positive and caring relationships with the people they were supporting”.

The CQC report highlighted that residents “were supported to maintain relationships and networks important to them and to see friends and family”, with relatives agreeing.

Inspectors also observed team members showing kindness and respect while interacting and engaging with residents and having meaningful conversations about their lives and experiences.

There is an abundance of regular activities at the home tailored to residents, including visits from local singers, baby and toddler groups, and animals, as well as an established relationship with Bromsgrove School and the nearby church. Inspectors commented that “access to activities promoted people’s independence, health and wellbeing.”

CQC inspectors noted how positively the team spoke about how the home was run and how they felt well supported. One team member told inspectors: “Management staff are incredible, level-headed...”

Lilly Dahms, Home Manager at Chandler Court, said: “Everyone has contributed to making Chandler Court an unparalleled place to live and work, and this rating stands as a testament to everyone’s dedication to brightening each residents’ day.

“Our commitment to delivering high-quality care is unwavering, and we are proud to see this endorsement from the CQC. We believe that every resident deserves the best possible care and support, and this rating confirms our ongoing efforts to meet and exceed these standards.

“I look forward to celebrating this achievement with the team and residents and continuing to build on our success in delivering exceptional care.”

Chandler Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
