Bath care home steps back in time for a summer party with a twist

A care home in Bath transported the local community back to the 1950s and 60s at a very groovy event.

Residents at Care UK’s Rush Hill Mews, on Clarks Way, were joined by the people of Bath for a very special summer party.

Residents, relatives, and the local community put on their dancing shoes and let loose to music from across the decades – with visitors embracing the eras, donning petticoats, pink ladies’ attire and rockabilly dresses.

The chef team at Rush Hill Mews also prepared a buffet for everyone to enjoy including vol-au-vents, assorted pinwheels, and black forest gateau, alongside a selection of wines, ale, and pina coladas.

As well as swinging their hips to Elvis, residents enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and the local community.

Commenting on the fun-filled event, Pam Mulholland, resident at Rush Hill Mews said: The party was a huge success, and I had a fantastic time. I love dancing, I remember dancing in the 50’s/60’s although it was a long time ago!”

Caroline Carter, General Manager at Rush Hill Mews, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our summer party to dance the afternoon away.

“Our party offered a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and show them what life at Rush Hill Mews is all about. We loved getting our dancing shoes on and giving everyone a chance to enjoy the sunshine and a throwback to the 50s and 60s.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Rush Hill Mews incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The home has been configured to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
