A care home in Quorn is marching to the beat of their own drum as they open their doors to the community for a carnival extravaganza.
On Friday 16th August, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, is inviting local people for an afternoon of carnival-themed fun and games.
To get into the carnival spirit, residents and team members have been crafting feather headdresses, plus musical instruments, including maracas and drums. The home’s garden will also be adorned with a host of colourful handmade decorations.
There will be live carnival-inspired music from singer Charlotte Beaver and a dance performance from AMC Dance School – sure to get everyone moving. Fruit cocktails will be served from the Tikki bar and homemade popcorn, ice-cream and sweet treats will also be available, all specially prepared by the home’s chef for everyone to enjoy.
Guests will have the opportunity to try their luck in a raffle and have the chance to win a F&M hamper. All proceeds will be going to Dementia UK to support Admiral Nurses in Leicestershire.
Members of the community will also be able to take a tour around the care home, which features its own cinema, hair salon and café.
Toby Sturgess, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews care home, said: “Here at Lonsdale Mews, we strive to play an active role in our community, which is why we’re thrilled to be opening our doors to local people for our carnival extravaganza.
“The carnival event offers an excellent chance for everyone to get their dancing shoes on and feel the beat of the music, as well as showing visitors what life is like at Lonsdale Mews.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone for what we expect to be an exciting day of music and dancing for all ages!”
Lonsdale Mews offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite. The home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
