‘I do!’ – Chester care home residents host hen party

Highlighted home news

Residents at a Chester care home marked a team member’s wedding with the most perfect party.

87-year-old Beryl Brassington and the other ladies at Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, pulled out all the stops and hosted a fabulous hen do for Team Leader, Sophie Harrison.

To make it a day to remember, the Deewater Grange team adorned the home’s walls with ribbons, engagement ring balloons and banners. There was also homemade alcohol-free champagne and wedding themed cupcakes specially prepared by the Head Chef and groom, Lloyd Harrison.

Sophie and the residents enjoyed playing ‘hen do bingo’ and ‘pin the ring on the bride's finger’, while dressed in ‘team bride’ sashes.

Beryl said: “It was such a pleasure to be part of Sophie’s hen party celebration. We had a fun day in our bridal sashes, and the cupcakes from the chef were fantastic! All of us here wish them the absolute best for their married life together.”

Beryl added: “It brought back lovely memories of when I was preparing for my big day. However, hen parties these days are different from when I was young. In my day they were a little quieter and tended to be more of a traditional family orientated celebration.”

Sophie said: “It was so special to share the build-up to my big day with our residents. They all had a fabulous time!”

Sally Cooper, Home Manager at Deewater Grange, added: “The ladies had so much fun helping Sophie get ready for her big day, and enjoyed the party games with plenty of good music.

“Here at Deewater Grange, we are always looking for an excuse to host a party and celebrate important milestones with residents, and Sophie and Lloyd’s wedding was no exception. The occasion was also a perfect chance for residents to reminisce about their own hen dos and weddings, which brought back lots of happy memories.

“It’s easy to see just how much Sophie and Lloyd adore each other, and we are honoured to play a part in it. Cheers to many years of happy marriage, and congratulations!”
