Cardiff care home named one of the best in the country

A care home in Cardiff has been named one of the best in the country by the UK’s leading care home review website.

The website, carehome.co.uk, announces the winners of the Care Home Awards annually, which recognises the top-rated homes and Llys Herbert has been listed as one of the best from over a 1,000 across the country.

Care UK’s Llys Herbert, located on Ty-Draw Road, is known for its commitment to enabling residents to lead active and fulfilling lives. Llys Herbert provides daily group and one-to-one activities, monthly friendship cafes and a Wishing Tree initiative that encourages residents to put wishes forward to reconnect with a past hobby or try something completely new.

The list of the most recommended care homes across the UK is compiled based on both the individual home and care group review score, which is calculated using reviews provided by service users and relatives. 

With a score of 10, the highest possible rating, 100 per cent of reviewers for Llys Herbert rated the care home as ‘excellent’. 

One review said: “We have nothing but the highest praise for the care she’s [his wife’s] receiving… I joined her and the other residents on Christmas Day, and we were treated to a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable meal, beautifully prepared and served… Llys Herbert is a care home where the staff really do care, and it shows.”

Another review said: “Completely exceeds expectations. Llys Herbert has given my mother-in-law a new lease of life. She is happier and healthier. I haven’t seen her smile so much in years (and she has a beautiful smile).”

Another said: “The home is beautiful, more like a five-star luxury hotel than a care home. The staff are excellent, happy and upbeat and most importantly, kind and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them... I cannot recommend highly enough for your loved ones.”
