A new care home in Wilmslow is asking the community for their help to find a name – and there’s a £250 cash prize for the winner.
Care UK, which is currently building a new care home on Manchester Road, is calling on local history enthusiasts and Wilmslow natives for a name that will reflect the uniqueness of the area.
The community is being encouraged to share their suggestions based on Wilmslow’s history, landmarks or famous locals. Should their entry make the cut, the winner of the home naming competition will receive £250 – and the satisfaction of naming a new building in their area.
Joshua Jones, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “Wilmslow is one of our most exciting projects to date – so we’d like to involve the community to help us find a befitting name.
“All our homes are named after things, people and places that are part of local history. This means the name of the home will likely evoke something familiar for future residents, giving them an opportunity to reminisce about the area – all while highlighting our desire to anchor ourselves in the local community.
“Our Wilmslow care home is set to become a community hub once open – so we’re excited to hear what local people feel its name should be. The town is rich in history and I’m sure locals have countless stories to tell. Whether you think the home should be named after a famous resident or local beauty spot – we can’t wait to hear your suggestions.”
To share your suggestion, please visit careuk.com/wilmslow-home-naming-competition before Sunday 5th March.
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open in December 2024, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close knit communities.
