Sarisbury Green care home supports local foodbank

A care home in Sarisbury Green is helping its local foodbank this festive season.

Residents and team members at Care UK’s Care UK’s Ancasta Grove, on Barnes Lane, were discussing how they could help their local community and decided that in the run up to Christmas they wanted to help support a charitable cause.

They donated £250 to Friends of the Homeless in Fareham and Gosport to help support vulnerable people in the community in the lead up to Christmas. The charity started in 2003 and delivers food parcels and basic toiletries to people in need who are referred to the service.

Speaking about the donation, Ancasta Grove’s Home Manager, Joel Ignacio, said: “In these challenging times, we know many people may be struggling, and with Christmas fast approaching, it’s more important than ever to support foodbanks which provide a vital lifeline for many members of our local community.

“At Ancasta Grove we are always looking for ways to give back and support our community and charities, whether that be through a monetary donation, or through the events we host throughout the year, such as the Christmas dinner we held recently as part of Care UK’s Care to Share initiative.

“This is a time for the community to come together, so we’d like to encourage everyone who is able to support their local foodbank and to check in on friends, family, and neighbours.”

Ancasta Grove has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as respite and end of life care, and is proud to be able to offer a ‘home for life’ if an individual’s needs change over time.
