Local children celebrate Christmas with Bristol care home residents

A care home in Bristol was joined by a local nursery to help kick-start the Christmas festivities.

To help spread the festive cheer, residents at Care UK’s Trymview Hall, on Southmead Road, were paid a special visit from children at Lake House Day Nursery – as well as another important guest, as Santa himself made a surprise appearance.

Children and residents were dressed to impress in their best Christmas jumpers, and everyone enjoyed a host of festive activities, including gathering around the Christmas tree to sing classic carols and making their own Christmas cards.

97-year-old Margaret, a resident at Trymview Hall, said: “It was a lovely surprise to see such joyful faces and share an afternoon with such lovely children. They made me a lovely Christmas card which has pride of place in my room.”

Nicole Anderson, Home Manager at Trymview Hall, added: “We’re all well and truly getting into the festive spirit here at Trymview Hall, and having the children from Lake House Day Nursery visit was a wonderful surprise for the residents – especially when Santa made an appearance too.

“Intergenerational relationships are incredibly enriching for both younger and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. Especially at Christmas, it’s a wonderful chance to share festive traditions between the generations and exchange Christmas memories.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the children from Lake House Day Nursery for coming along, and to Santa for taking a day off during this busy time – merry Christmas everyone!”

Trymview Hall is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
