Halstead care home resident gets new tattoo

Home news

A Halstead care home resident was delighted when her wish to get inked was made a reality.

When the team at Care UK’s Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, learned that 58-year-old Debbie Cooper was keen to get a new tattoo, they were delighted to make it happen.

The team at Colne View arranged for Stuart Williams, a tattooist at The Tattoo Room, in Sudbury, to pay Debbie a special visit to help make her dream a reality by creating a beautiful English rose on her arm.

The design was inspired by Debbie’s love for the stunning flowers, and she was keen to get the tattoo to remind her of fond memories from when she used to grow roses in her garden at home.

Commenting on the experience, Debbie said: “I’m really pleased with the tattoo and it didn’t hurt at all! The detail in the rose is beautiful – it’s turned out better than I could ever have imagined!”

The visit was part of the home’s Wishing Tree initiative, which encourages residents to put wishes forward, allowing them to reconnect with a past hobby or try something completely new – from flying a plane to enjoying a fish and chip supper, no wish is too big or small.

Monica Boldeata, Home Manager at Colne View, said: “When Debbie shared that her wish was to get a new tattoo, the team knew they needed to help, and were so thrilled to make it happen.

“Our Wishing Tree initiative is a great way for residents to share their dreams and passions, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to make these a reality. Debbie had a fantastic experience and is delighted with her new piece of art – she can’t take her eyes off it!

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to the team here at the home, as well as Stuart at The Tattoo Room for making Debbie’s dreams come true – she’s already planning her next tattoo!”
