Local school children have created eye-catching artwork to decorate the hoardings of Charlton’s newest care home.
Students from Wantage Primary Academy were invited by Care UK’s Charlton Lodge, off Elder Way, to get creative with a piece of artwork around the theme of ‘who do you care about?’ to decorate the hoardings of the new home.
ld Audrey, a pupil at Wantage Primary Academy, said: “I was so happy to see my art displayed – I drew a picture of my cat, Juniper, as all my family love him!”
Justin Daley, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “We’re thrilled with the wonderful artwork which is now on display at Charlton Lodge – it looks amazing!
“We were delighted to have collaborated with Wantage Primary Academy on this fantastic project and begin to build relationships with our new neighbours. We look forwards to working with the pupils on future projects and building intergenerational relationships, which are so important for older people, once residents begin to move in next year.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
