Tettenhall care home’s Dementia Café officially opened by special guest

A care home in Tettenhall has launched a new support group for those in the community.

Care UK’s Foxland Grange, on Wergs Road, was joined by the local community for the launch of its new Dementia Café, which has been created to support those in Tettenhall who have been affected by dementia.

To officially unveil the café, the home invited the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, who officially declared the café open with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Following the ceremony, residents enjoyed talking to the Mayor about Tettenhall and how the area has changed over the years.

The event offered local people guidance from the home’s team members and an opportunity to share their experiences and create a support network where they can meet others who have similar experiences of caring for someone living with dementia.

Katy Anderson, General Manager at Foxland Grange, said: “Looking after a loved one with dementia can, at times, be a difficult experience. We understand these challenges, which is why we have launched our Dementia Café – to bring people together in similar situations and build a strong support network across Tettenhall.

“Here at Foxland Grange, we have extensive experience caring for residents living with dementia, and we have a fantastic team who each have a vast amount of knowledge and can offer emotional support and guidance for those caring for loved ones at home.

“We would like to say a big thank you to Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre for officially opening our café and look forward to welcoming many more people to visit and learn from our expert team to better help those living with dementia.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Foxland Grange, incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The building has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
