A new care home in Thame has teamed up with a local school for a very important project.
Team members at Care UK’s Cuttlebrook Hall, on Stock Road, were joined by pupils from Queensdown Nursery to bury a time capsule in celebration of the new home, which is set to open its doors in October.
On the day, the children filled the time capsule with contents to reflect their favourite memories at school, which included a newspaper, stamp, a t-shirt with the nursery’s logo, photos of the children and their handprints.
The time capsule has been buried in the care home’s gardens and is not planned to be re-opened for at least 50 years.
Natalie Martin, Owner at Queensdown Nursery, said: “The children have loved working on the time capsule with the team at Cuttlebrook Hall – it was a brilliant opportunity for the children to reflect on what matters most to them, and we’re sure hope this is the start of a budding friendship between pupils and future residents.”
Carolann Hinson, Home Manager at Cuttlebrook Hall, added: “It was wonderful to welcome the children from Queensdown Nursery to Cuttlebrook Hall for the burial of our time capsule.
“We’re excited to build new intergenerational relationships in the local community and we were delighted when the children agreed to help with our time capsule. Having input from younger generations for this project was really important to us – it’s been lovely to work with the local youngsters and learn what’s important to them.
“I’d like to extend a big thank you to Queensdown Nursery for their help and look forward to continuing to build on our relationship – especially as we’re starting to welcome residents into the home!”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Cuttlebrook Hall is set to open in October 2023. The care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and include its own cinema, hair salon and café.
