Sharing is caring – Cringleford care home shows up for local emergency services

A Cringleford care home has stepped up for their local emergency services.

Ahead of Emergency Services Day, residents and team members at Care UK's Cavell Court, on Dragonfly Lane, have been doing the rounds and distributing handmade hampers to say thanks to emergency workers in the area.

Specially assembled at the home by residents, the hampers featured delicious goodies, a handmade card as well as a commemorative glass award engraved with a personalised message for each recipient.

As part of the initiative, residents and team members visited Longwater Ambulance Station and even had a tour of the Diamond Jubilee Fire Station, complete with a look inside the fire engine and rescue boat – plus a chance to use the water hose.

Local police officers were also gifted the hampers after delivering a talk at the home and giving residents a special tour of their police car.

Cavell Court resident Peta Cremer said: “I worked in the Fire Service, so visiting the fire station was very special and brought back lots of memories.”

Ann Vinters, another resident, added: “I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the ambulance station to deliver their gifts to show our appreciation.”

Karen Curle, Home Manager at Cavell Court, said: “The work that emergency services workers do in the community is invaluable, and with Emergency Services Day approaching, we wanted to do something special to show our appreciation.

“Residents loved putting together the hampers, and we’re incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received from emergency services workers during our visit. It was great to get an insight into their lives and duties – and to get a tour of all the vehicles.

“We’d like to encourage the community to show their appreciation too, however they can, and we look forward to welcoming them into the home for some well-earned coffee and cake soon.”

Cavell Court is a modern care home which provides full-time residential, and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
