No sea-esta here – Bromsgrove care home celebrates the last of summer at the beach

A care home in Bromsgrove embraced the sunny spells in the last few weeks of summer with a fun-filled beach party.  

Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, took a special staycation and experienced all the classic hallmarks of a British seaside holiday from the comfort of the home’s garden. 

The home’s garden was transformed into a beach-like setting, with sand, buckets and spades included – as well as an inflatable paddling pool. Residents donned their best sunglasses, beach hats and matching leis, while team members ensured the day was packed full of fun, with traditional seaside games, including building sandcastles, crazy golf, and beachball games. 

 

Residents and team members alike enjoyed dancing to music, and of course a supply of cocktails and mocktails were on hand to keep residents hydrated for when the sun came out to play. Residents were also encouraged to reminisce about their most memorable seaside holidays, with fond memories of trips to Devon, Cornwall and Wales shared. 

Anthony Jessop, a resident at Chandler Court, said: “I really enjoyed the beach party – the crazy golf was my favourite part!”

Tina Lilly, Home Manager at Chandler Court, said: “Setting sail to the garden, we decided to make the most of these final few days of summer with a fabulous beach party. 

“Our seaside-themed event created the perfect setting to prompt residents to share their own holiday memories – it was fantastic to hear their stories about their favourite family holidays spent at the coast. Our sand pit, beach activities and paddling pool certainly made the experience even more immersive, and the team really did a fantastic job bringing the seaside to Bromsgrove. 

“We had great fun transforming our garden for this special event, and I think we can say we’ve proved life really is a beach at Chandler Court!”
