Knutsford care home steps back in time to celebrate home’s 18th birthday

A care home in Mobberley celebrated its 18th birthday with a very special event.

Residents at Care UK’s Cranford Grange, formerly known as Sunrise of Mobberley, on Hall Lane, transported residents and the local community back to the Victorian period, 18 years after the home welcomed its very first resident.

To help celebrate, the team welcomed Cllr Stewart Gardiner former Mayor of Knutsford, local businesses, families and friends along with the local community.

The day’s theme was inspired by popular Victorian author, Elizabeth Gaskell, who lived in Knutsford and famously penned the novel, Cranford, from which the home's name derived.  Complementary Cranford Books were given out on the day, for all to enjoy.

On the day, the team went all out with the Victorian theme by decorating the home as a Victorian Manor house and team members also dressed to impress in elaborate costumes inspired from the era.

During the afternoon, residents, relatives, and the local community were treated to a Victorian high tea, featuring a delicious selection of sandwiches and cakes made by the home's Head Chef. To keep everyone refreshed, party-goers were treated to a glass of bubbly and Victorian-inspired cocktails.

Lisa Burrows, General Manager at Cranford Grange, said: “It was wonderful to see the home transformed and everyone dressed up to celebrate the home's anniversary and pay homage to Elizabeth Gaskell who is part of Knutsford's rich history.

“The whole team worked incredibly hard to organise this event – making this party one we will definitely remember for many years to come. I would like to say a massive thank you to those who make Cranford Grange such a magical place to work and call home - and for joining us on this special day.

“It’s certainly been a busy 18 years at Cranford Grange! We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Cranford Grange. We’re excited to see what’s in store in the future.”
