It’s party time! Cheadle care home celebrates eighth birthday in style

A care home in Cheadle threw a birthday bonanza to celebrate reaching a special milestone.

The Care UK team at Abney Court, in Abney Hall Park, pulled out all the stops for a special birthday bash to mark eight years since the home opened. 

Residents were up on their feet dancing and singing along to live music from Ian Jenkins, a local singer who performed songs from across the decades. The care team pulled out all the stops to make the home fit for the party, with decorations and of course a delicious birthday cake.

Residents were also treated to a gourmet buffet, along with canapés and a glass of bubbly, specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef, Phil Lyons, and his team.

Gladys Shaw, a resident at Abney Court, said: “The party was great fun and I loved the entertainment – the team did a great job and everyone had fun!”

Amcia Hara, Home Manager at Abney Court, said: “It was fantastic to see residents enjoying the party atmosphere as we all celebrated Abney Court’s eighth birthday. 

“The last eight years have absolutely flown by. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built long-lasting relationships with our neighbours and hosted countless themed days – from marking special milestones and birthdays to taking part in charity walks and welcoming the circus for carnival fun.

“The whole team worked hard to organise a birthday party to remember, and I am delighted to say their efforts were a huge success. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who makes Abney Court an amazing place to call home, and for helping to make the day extra special.  

“We’d like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate with us – here’s to the next eight!”

Abney Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
