A care home in Poole is inviting the community to learn more about living with dementia.
On Thursday 14th September, from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s The Potteries, on York Road, is inviting local people to attend its ‘Adjusting to a Diagnosis of Dementia’ event to learn more about the challenges that come with a diagnosis, and how to navigate this journey.
Special guest, Barbara Stephens, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Dementia Pathfinders, an organisation which provides learning opportunities, resources and services, to enable people with dementia and their families to live with hope, creativity and meaning, will lead the session.
Barbara will be on hand to provide support and insight into how a journey with dementia may unfold. She will also offer guidance about how to live positively with the condition, while making emotional and practical adjustments along the way.
Zita Turner, Home Manager at The Potteries, said: “There are a lot of changes that come with a diagnosis of dementia, and we know it can be extremely difficult to navigate these.
“Team members at The Potteries have a wealth of knowledge and experience in caring for residents living with dementia and will be on hand during the event to offer comfort, guidance, and help sign post appropriate support.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Barbara for what we anticipate will be an incredibly helpful and insightful evening for all involved. We highly recommend that those interested book their space to avoid missing out.”
